Today, plastics technology is far more than just an alternative production process in industrial manufacturing – it is a key technology. It combines technical performance with economic efficiency and enables customized product solutions for almost every industry. As a leading supplier in the field of rotational molding, toolmaking and mold construction, SAVO combines decades of experience with state-of-the-art technology.
Plastics technology is an interdisciplinary field that deals with the development, processing and application of polymer materials. This field produces technical components, series products and special solutions for sectors such as automotive, medical technology, environmental technology, mechanical engineering and the consumer goods industry.
Plastics are no longer just cost-effective alternatives to metal – they offer clear advantages: low weight, high chemical resistance, flexible shaping and excellent insulating properties. Modern plastics technology makes it possible to adapt components precisely to functional requirements – often in a single, efficient production step.
Our customers come from demanding sectors such as mechanical engineering, automotive technology, medical technology and environmental technology. They all expect maximum reliability and economic efficiency – and rightly so. With SAVO tools you benefit from:
Toolmaking and mold making are often used synonymously in plastics technology, but differ in their focus. Mold making focuses specifically on the production of casting molds that are used in the processing of plastics – e.g. in rotational molding. These molds give the component its external shape. Toolmaking, on the other hand, covers a broader technical area: in addition to the mold itself, all mechanical components, inserts, venting systems, brackets and functional components are also part of tool design. While mold construction is therefore limited to the contour-forming unit, tool construction integrates the entire technical infrastructure required for a smooth production process.
Our tool solutions are developed in close consultation with you. We analyze all material, shape and functional requirements as early as the design phase. On this basis, our engineers develop individual tools that are optimally adapted to your component and the conditions in the rotational molding process.
We think further: good tools must not only shape a component – they must accelerate processes, avoid sources of error and ensure quality for years to come. This is exactly what our systems do.

SAVO – your partner for industrial plastics technology you can rely on.
Toolmaking in plastics technology includes the development, design and manufacture of tools that are required for the production of plastic components. In particular, this includes molds and mold inserts, but also complex mechanical systems such as vents, inserts or changing systems. Maximum precision is required in toolmaking, as the quality, cycle time and dimensional accuracy of the end product are directly dependent on the tool.
Plastics technology is a field of mechanical engineering or process engineering that deals with the production, processing and application of plastics. This includes the development of new plastic materials as well as the design of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, extrusion or rotational molding. Plastics technology combines materials science, design and production engineering – and has become an integral part of many sectors such as the automotive, medical, construction and packaging industries.
Mold making refers to the production of the mold inserts used to manufacture plastic parts. As a rule, these molds are made of aluminum or steel and are precisely adapted to the subsequent component geometry. Mold making is therefore a sub-area of toolmaking that focuses exclusively on the contour-forming tool – i.e. the actual casting or molding surface. Particularly in processes such as rotational molding or injection molding, precise mold making is a key prerequisite for reproducible quality.
Rotational m olding (also known as rotomoulding) is a shaping plastic process in which powdered plastic is placed in a rotating, heated mould. The plastic melts due to the uniform rotation and adheres to the inner wall of the mold. After cooling, a seamless, hollow plastic part is created – e.g. containers, housings or technical components. The process is characterized by uniform wall thicknesses, a high degree of design freedom and cost-efficient tools. Rotational molding is particularly suitable for medium quantities and large, robust plastic parts.
