Germany is one of the world’s leading locations for industrial toolmaking. Nowhere else do engineering skills, experience and technological excellence come together as consistently as here. Today, the term “Toolmaking Germany” stands for a promise of quality: durable, precisely manufactured tools, developed and produced to the highest standards of function, efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
SAVO Moulding has embodied this claim for decades. As an owner-managed company specializing in plastics technology, rotational moulding, mould making and tool making, we develop solutions that set standards in Germany. Whether prototypes, small series or highly complex series tools – our tools are designed for durability, repeat accuracy and perfect integration into your production processes. And you can feel it: in the function, in the service life, in the efficiency of your production.
Our customers come from mechanical engineering, environmental technology, medical technology, the agricultural sector and many other branches of industry. What unites them is their demand for quality. What they are looking for is a partner who can do more than just mill – namely think along with them. This is exactly what sets us apart at Werkzeugbau Deutschland.
At SAVO, we cover all relevant steps in toolmaking in-house. In this way, we ensure that quality, speed and cost-effectiveness go hand in hand.
What makes us special at SAVO is the combination of development, toolmaking and production under one roof. Because we not only implement your tools – we also use them ourselves. This gives us a deep understanding of the interplay between tool design, material behavior and process control. Especially in combination with our know-how in the field of rotational moulding this integration offers decisive advantages.
When we develop a tool, we know from experience what challenges can arise in practice. We design with a view to later demoldability, cycle times, temperature behavior and surface requirements. And we test before you go into series production. This reduces start-ups, saves time – and protects your budget.
German toolmaking enjoys an excellent reputation – and rightly so. What sets it apart is not only its technical precision, but also its ability to realize individual solutions. While other markets often rely on standardized tools, Werkzeugbau Deutschland stands for tailor-made solutions that are precisely adapted to the product in question.
This begins with the selection of materials and extends to CAD design and high-precision production. Modern CNC machines, CAM-supported processes, 5-axis machining, erosion technology and precision mechanical finishing are standard for us. But what really sets us apart is the combination of these technologies with genuine consulting expertise. We think along with you – and sometimes even rethink. This results in solutions that are technically convincing and economically viable.
The trust of our customers is based on this reliability. SAVO tools stand for quality that continues to function precisely even after many thousands of cycles. And this is precisely why toolmaking in Germany remains an indispensable part of any high-quality plastics production.

Today, plastics technology is far more than just a production process – it is a driver of technology and innovation. At SAVO, you receive all services from a single source: rotational molding, toolmaking, mold construction and series production. Our in-house expertise and certified processes ensure quality, cost-effectiveness and maximum planning reliability – from the first draft to the finished product.
SAVO – your partner for industrial plastics technology you can rely on.
Toolmaking in plastics technology encompasses the development, design and manufacture of tools required for the production of plastic components. In particular, this includes molds and mold inserts, but also complex mechanical systems such as vents, inserts or changing systems. Maximum precision is required in toolmaking, as the quality, cycle time and dimensional accuracy of the end product are directly dependent on the tool.
Plastics technology is a field of mechanical engineering or process engineering that deals with the production, processing and application of plastics. This includes the development of new plastic materials as well as the design of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, extrusion or rotational molding. Plastics technology combines materials science, design and production engineering – and has become an integral part of many sectors such as the automotive, medical, construction and packaging industries.
Mold making refers to the production of the mold inserts used to manufacture plastic parts. As a rule, these molds are made of aluminum or steel and are precisely adapted to the subsequent component geometry. Mold making is therefore a sub-area of toolmaking that focuses exclusively on the contour-forming tool – i.e. the actual casting or molding surface. Particularly in processes such as rotational molding or injection molding, precise mold making is a key prerequisite for reproducible quality.
Rotational m olding (also known as rotomoulding) is a shaping plastic process in which powdered plastic is placed in a rotating, heated mould. The plastic melts due to the uniform rotation and adheres to the inner wall of the mold. After cooling, a seamless, hollow plastic part is created – e.g. containers, housings or technical components. The process is characterized by uniform wall thicknesses, a high degree of design freedom and cost-efficient tools. Rotational molding is particularly suitable for medium quantities and large, robust plastic parts.
